“Street Scene, New York” by Walker Evans (1928)

Brilliant. I'm still trying to track down what he shot this with.

Golden Horseshoe tour

Interesting (to me) sights around the GTA, with Wikipedia and Flickr cross-references whenever possible:

(okay... I'm having more fun photo-matching than I expected to, so I figure I'll do that in another thread. I'll keep adding "funny" or "interesting" finds to this entry.)

The roof is on fire? (11 sleeps)

HI!

Today was a slow, sleepy, pleasant Monday, but I finally picked up some 120 film I had dropped off at Downtown Camera a couple weeks ago. Two rolls of Kodak Tri-X, which I might as well call my favourite film ever. Look:

Rock and roll

That's Jeanette. And that's rock and roll. I am growing fairly sick of Downtown Camera though, as they can't seem to figure out how to properly scan 120 film. All my scans come back in 4:3 with half the frame cut off. For example:

a typically bad scan from Downtown Camera

That's the same photo, pre-post-processing. I'm not sure why I haven't switched labs yet.

In other news, I stubbed my toe on our apartment, our building was not on fire, and there are only ELEVEN. MORE SLEEPS. 'TIL BROOKLYN. And, well, the rest of NY. Here is our building not on fire:

our building was not on fire... but we acted as if it was

The firemen didn't realize it was not on fire until they had all showed up. So it goes.
